Magura hs33 fitment on a kilauea seatstay..

Triggered by the impossibility to mount my set of Magura HS33 rimbrakes in between the seatstay of a Giant Cadex CFM-2, I've found the start on the solution on page 7, paragraph 6 of the manual @one-eyed_jim so kindly provided.
The elbows must point down. However, I do not seem to get them loosened?
Any thoughts?
