Retro Newbie
LOTUS AEROTROPE MOUNTAIN BIKE

A very rare opportunity to purchase a cycle that was once the forerunner in technology and leading up to the development of the Olympic gold medal winning design of Chris Boardman's bike in the 1990's

The Lotus Aerotrope MB was designed by Christopher Hornzee-jones, and manufactured for Lotus Cycles between 1992 and 1994 by S P Systems, Southern California, USA.

Only 450 cycles were made and less than 100 were sold worldwide, with only a handful going to the UK, the rest going to factory employees.

Interesting If I had the space/time I would be in on the bidding. But If I won it I would equip it with RC35's and have it repsprayed black as per the catalogue one...

Would that be referring to the bike designed by Mike Burrows in the '80's which Boardman rode in the 1992 Olympics? If so, either the dates are off or it was inspired by, rather than leading up to the Olympic bike.

Must admit, I'd also be more tempted as frame only due to the kit fitted (except the brakes that is) or if it was more original. Still a tempting project though (would look good beside the prototype Olympic bike I have).

P.S. Do you own a high bicycle? I have 2 at present, a 53" and a 55".
