lightweight rim tape

3 turns of electrical insulation tape or some fabric Physiotherapy tape.

But the mud on my wheels offset any weight saving.

Maxxis Fly Weight (1.5/1.7 Presta) = 78.5g & 78.6g :D

Rimstrip supplied with above = 15.3g & 15.2g :D

WD - as mentioned use leccy tape instead of rim tape, don't bother with valve caps.

231's + three layers of tape + narrow tyres + silly psi = tape with evenly spaced punched holes + tape circles with protruding nipple impressions  been there done that ...

If you could be bothered to radius the edges of the nipple holes (they are quite sharp) you might get away with it - but the maxxis rim strips are light and free with the above tubes, it was an easy descision for me :D

That's my input :D

Try veloplugs, lighter than rim tape and makes tyre fitting easier.

Lightweight rim tape? I suggest you read Prof. Bontrager's writing on weight saving and component lightening.

Isn't it, by its very nature, lightweight anyway?

yes. Velox tape is only 15 grams and thick

I use 10mm wide sellotape the thinnest you can find on my rims and it works well for me 2 turns round each rim its only 2grams for each wheel :D  Ive never had any punctures

3 turns? 1 is enough surely?
