can you show us that bike on the scales?

my merlin is 20lb, the frame and fork are both at least a pound lighter, and the rest of my kit is XTR, not XT

Depends what target weight you want I suppose, what do you call light?

My Litespeed Sewanee is just under 20lb with a lot of 'modern' lightweight kit on, the frame is about 2015g ish....

Or another good start point is the Yeti ASR (2350g ish) Mine, below, with more 'robust' spec at about 22lb, but I have built it before at about 21lb iirc....

I previously owned one of the original Hecklers which I upgraded with an air shock, and currently have both a pre-facelift Superlight and Blur Classic with 8 speed XTRM950-3 builds and Pace or DT Swiss forks. All came in around 27 pounds with pedals and kit sturdy enough for a lightish rider not to worry about longevity.

I would recommend all three to be honest - the Blur needs more maintenance but rides a lot better. Hecklers and Superlights up to one model year about 2002 (I think?) had a potential issue with the rear triangle cracking, which was fixed. Otherwise I have a soft spot for the old type Hecklers...

I thought that also... but I don't have the bike yet, it's in the post and 20lb is the claimed weight.. we'll see when it gets here. If it's over I have a truck load of nice, light parts to chuck on there, XC bikes should weigh 20lb or less imo
