Lewways or funk what came first?

I've recently got myself a lewways mtb, purely because of the colour and the e stay, couldn't find anything about them anywhere.
That's when I found out about funk bikes.
The lad I got it from, says he bought it from a catalogue in the 80s, but the frame is a bit to similar to funk bikes for it to be a coincidence.
Anyone know anything about the firm?

Oh, yea, very cheap, weighs the same as a bus!
How did you find out about 94, I couldn't find anything on the bikes.
Guess the bloke was mistaken, he did look older than me right enough!

There is a date code on the front mech

The internet does say that they went bust in 2014

Aside from both being elevated chainstay design I'm afraid that's about where the similarities with a Funk end. In the early 90s elevated chainstays were quite popular.
