Large Mercian Touring Frame: 63cm c-t Seat Tube

I am reluctantly offering for sale a beautiful 63cm (ctt) Mercian touring frame. It would build into a fantastic retro ride, fixie or possibly even a cross bike.

**I have spent ages trying to add pics to this but it seems without an image hosting site I cannot do it**

**I can email/facebook/tweet pics as required**

I got this about 2 years ago and had every intention of building this up for myself, but we are moving house soon and my 'normal' bike is knackered and needs new wheels/groupset and I am struggling to find the money.

Here is the info:

Frame number 28786, which I believe means it is the 287th frame built in 1986.

I am pretty certain it is colour 13 on the Mercian paint chart which is Golden Bronze Polychromatic. It also has black lug lining, Mercian decals fitted, chromed Campagnolo dropouts front and rear, a Campagnolo headset fitted (with canti brake cable hanger).

Seat Tube: 63cm c-top, 61cm c-c.
Top Tube 58.5cm c-c.
Head Tube 19cm.
Chain Stays 43cm, Front Centre 60.5cm
Rear Spacing: 126mm
Front Spacing: 100mm
Bottom Bracket: British Thread 68mm.
Braze-ons: 2x bottle cage bosses, full cantilever brake bosses, normal rear mech hanger, stop for band-on down tube lever mounts.
Weight: Frame/Forks/Headset weigh 3.3kg (7.26lb) in total, but this is a BIG frame.

The paint is in reasonable condition and could certainly be built and ridden straight away, but if you wanted to make this your best bike this frame really deserves a respray. Then it would look stunning. There are some small scrapes and chips in line with a 30 year old frame but no dents and the frame is straight and true.

If you buy this and spend £150 on a proper Mercian respray you will still be getting a lovely frame for less than half the cost of a new one and be saving a proper classic!

The only other things to point out are that it needs some new bearings in the headset (about £1.99 from LBS,I removed the old ones when cleaning as they were so gunked up) and that one of the dropouts has a broken wheel adjuster in it which needs drilling out.

Retrobikers get first dibs before going to eBay.

I am asking £175 ono collected from Leicester.

Too big for me sadly, maybe the photos will tempt someone else:

If anyone needs any more pics, just let me have your email address and I will send them over.

I am open to offers on the frame still. Just mocked up this frame on the Mercian bikebuilder and it would be £850.00 plus VAT for the closest I could do, so that's £1020.

Granted this is an older frame and really wants a respray. But £200 or so will get you a nice genuine Mercian respray and transfers fitted. We all know quality steel frames can last forever, so for less than £400 you could buy my frame and have it in whatever colour you like, that's got to be worth it?

Think we need a Wheeler Dealers programme for bikes!
