Foooookin hell

My new (old) Stinky is buggered.. No wonder it was so cheap!

I was having a propper check over of my new bike yesterday and found the rear seatstay snapped in two places...

As far as I can tell, this is a regular occurence on old konas.

Im quite peed off but having spoken to a local welding company .. www.holinwoodwelding.co.uk they say they can sort it for beer money, which is sooo good to hear in this day and age.

heres a few piccies of the damage. I didnt notice before as when the seatstay was bolted up, it looked perfect with no visible signs of damage...

very easy repair for a good alloy welder :D

That's what I'm hoping. The people I phoned are welding experts so I shouldn't see any problems with the repair.

I'm just glad it the only obvious damage is in a easily removeable part of the bike.

I'll update as & when it's done

Are you sure it's a Stinky? I thought Stab's only had the 'Kona DH' stamped gusset?
I'm more than probably wrong but if not it's a good thing.
Hope you get the frame fixed. Back ends pop up on e-bay from time to time.

Hi mate

It has Kona OB stamped on the frame. Part of Kona's Out of Bounds series, the Stab was the DownHill series and had DH stamped, as you can see, Iphones have a garbage camera

I thought it was a Stab first of all but after some Retrobike detective work, it turns out to be a Stinky Dee-Lux..

Im happy any way.. it cost me peanuts and even with a bit of welding that needs doing, its a cool bike.

I'm gonna get it welded & also keep my eyes peeled for a seatstay
