Kona Lava Dome 1997

18 or 19” frame - will check.

I bought this on a whim over a year ago but haven’t even had chance to clean it until this past weekend, let alone properly go through it. I'd bought a higher-rise stem for it, was going to run wide bars and even considered converting it to a 1x set-up  However, I can’t bring myself to mess with it; it’s really quite original / period correct. All I have done is swapped the tyres, as it came with slicks.

It all works but I’d recommend going through it with a set-up and some new cables etc.

Forks (Judy SL's) are in a poor state – they have been hand painted by the looks of things and the stickers are peeling away. The stanchions are tidy, but there are signs of oil which I guess means new seals. They work as they should but are aesthetically very tatty.

Headset wants a re-grease – bit gritty.

Few bits of rust on the frame, mainly on the seatstays, rear brake bridge and around the cable guides on the top tube – needs treating and touching in.

No pedals included unless you’re desperate.

£100.

Collection only from Bolton.

Forgive my lack of knowledge but at what exact points you measure these older konas? i got a cinder cone that feels oh-so slightly small and want the next size up..
