kona humuhumu considered a MTB?

Picked up a 1996 kona humuhumu in semi-rough shape the other day and after much googling?

Seems like they kinda fall in the odd gap, BMX? ATB? Cruiser/Klunker?
More pictures and topics on the re-release kona humuhumu, and spread all over the web?
Retrobike, Gumtree, Singletrack, Mrbr.com, bmxmuseum.com ect...

But really not to popular? and not many Forum topics either? Rare or just not to popular?

I must say, I do do prefer the 97' A'ha or humuhumunukunukuapua'a myself with that more curved top-tube. Those's Stars&Stripes editions are to die for!

EDIT: Opps :facepalm: maybe this belongs in the Bike Chat area?

Re:

When I see that 29" which were hybrid bikes are today considered as mtb, why not your kona wouldn't be a mtb… :D

Surely it depends on how you ride it?

Offroad/singletrack/big n' rough = MTB
At the beach = cruiser
Never = retrobike

:D
