Kona Curve brakes

Re:

The sad thing was that the real Curve brakes were very nice. In the mad dash to cash in on the boutique parts craze Curve destroyed their rep by jumping in bed with Kona. Cranks that were made of cheese and split at the taper, brake levers that snapped at the pivot, brakes that split, cracked and rattled (is that the name of a breakfast cereal?) themselves to death.

Building those bikes knowing that the new owners would have to bring them back to get fixed was very disheartening, I invariably pushed people onto other brands in the end

What a joke  a) they are rubbish and b) last year you could pick up a NOS set with levers for half the price.

Did Kona ever fit a set of brakes on their bikes that could actually stop the thing?

When I bought my second Kona in the 90's I automatically factored in the cost of replacements before I wheeled the thing out of the shop!!

Yeah, 1997 when v's turned up thank God!

To be fair I've never had any problems with their handlebars.
