I’m looking for at least £300 for this.
This is for a retro enthusiast and I'd love to see it go to someone who will upgrade some parts and take it to its former glory.
This thing of beauty has been mine since new in 1992; if the purchaser thinks it might add value I might be able to locate the original receipt from a bike store near Cranleigh. I plan to commute via bike more so keeping this baby going was to require more investment than I felt didn't match the performance gains; a new bike is for me; hence the very reluctant sale. Clearly over time a few bits and bobs have been changed and I've always looked to change them for better parts but the latest forced change was to some parts of the drive change and knowing I was going to sell it soon meant I bought budget parts as I felt that the new owner may wish to take upgrades in a different direction to me (the budget parts are recent editions so will go on for a while but they do require old-school gear usage knowledge to stop chain rub).
Please do your research on this bike. The Joe Murray design is a collectors classic and this Race Lite version was a limited edition of that classic. The 19" chromoly frame, handlebars, Velocity stem, Project Two triple butted forks, seat post, pedals with Joe Murray designed twin strap clips, Suntour XC Ltd rear shifter, Suntour XC Ltd front derailleur, Suntour brake levers and Suntour cantilevers are all original.
New additions are the friction front gear shifter, XT rear derailleur, front wheel on an XTR hub, rear wheel on an XT hub, Specialized saddle, mud hugger and crud catcher fenders, the brilliant Ergon GP1 grips. The tyres have been added with country lane and canal towpath commuting in mind; they are totally brilliant and quite new Big Apples that have loads of miles left in them.
I’ll also include the original rear wheel in case you want to use the rim (the hub is dead).
Don’t forget this is a well used old bike so there are scratches, scraps and areas of rust.
Based on web advertisements I'm hoping postage will only cost about £30. pick up from Worcester area is free.
