Koga Miyata RidgeRunner (1987) - rebuild/restoration

Hi there,

A few months back I got my hands on a Koga Miyata RidgeRunner dating from 1987. The seller told me; the bike was his wife's, however she never used the bike. Her boss gave it to her years ago as a gift. That's pretty much all he could tell me about the bike.

Bike as in catalogue: https://d2zxu9tg022395.cloudfront.net/files/8/0/4/Koga_Brochure_1987.pdf

The bike was collected as in the pictures below. The bike was collecting dust for a while and came with two flat tires. The condition is used; some paint damage here and there, hardend suede Vetta saddle and some slight surface rust on the seatpost. However, the bike appears to be in pretty much original condition; M730 groupset (rear derraileur excepted) , Nitto stem and bars and ARAYA RM20 rims.

I am planning to rebuild/restore the bike and record the progress in this thread.

A first update:
The bike is completely stripped and no major major damages, other than the usual on a used bike, were found.
Below I have posted some more detailed pictures of the frame (still in 'as collected' condition).
After checking the parts with the original parts list I have concluded that only the RD and tires are non-original.
Luckily I have some spare M730 RD's, but the original National Ibex tires will be much harder to obtain.

The upcoming days I'll clean up the parts nicely and share some of the results.

First parts are cleaned.
The brakes came out quite nice.
Also the front wheel came out nice and shiny (not polished yet).

Today I finished the RidgeRunner and realized I completely forgot to give updates on the proces.
For now 'll show the final result and try again when working on another bike ;).

I am quite happy with the result!
The bike is, to my knowledge, in original condition as in 1987 (except for the tires).

Full spec list will follow soon...
