KLEIN Mantra BB cable routing

I have always thought the Mantra was about the coolest looking bike..ever.

Mud Dock in Bristol got a few in stock shortly after they were released, and I kept looking and drooling, but I could only afford one suspension bike, and the reports at the time kept on about the suspension moving (bobbing) in climbs, so in the end I didn't buy one...wrong wrong wrong wrong WRONG!

I would still love one.

More pictures please

gil_m - the Mantras look gorgeous... I knew about the rigid front end and have kind of assumed I'd dabble in that sometime during my bike's life. That however will have to wait a while - I truly broke the bank buying my frame!

As to NeilM's comments, I'd have to agree; I was at my peak on my bike (a lovely, whippy little Gary Fisher that I ended up snapping...) when the Mantra came out. Short of selling a kidney, I was never going to have one when they first came out... let's hope the wait's been worth it!

Fell in love so much with them that I P/X'ed my Pace RC100

Rode the first Black frame for a while and broke the rear end, which was replaced for the later twin tube version rather than the earlier "box section"

Ran that for a bit and then got chance for the Carbon Mantra Race which as yet I haven't had much chance to ride, hence not changing the forks yet

Couple more photos for you :)

Awesome photos gil-m; can I ask what rear shock you're running on your carbon Mantra?

I've got to say almost each and every time I see a Klein, I feel kinda gutted their imagination and style isn't part of the MTB scene any more. Considering how magnificent their work was in the mid/late 90s, imagine what they'd be running with now if they'd lasted the course alone...

Alex, IMHO your Mantra has got to be THE coolest bike on the planet.

You guys have got me watching Mantra frames on ebay.com now

Oh - and to NeilM for watching Ebay for Mantras - it's nice the addiction's spreading!

Just had a fright on one that I'm watching. The seller wants $170 to ship!

I've never bought a frame in from the US, but does that seem expensive?

Very kind of you to say  .... I know it's not going to be to everyones tastes how I build my bikes but I like mixing old and new.

That shipping is quite high if it's just for the frame, although it won't ever be cheap. And don't forget that theres always the potential to get hit with import duty and then VAT on everything when it comes into the country, so I always add on 25% to be prepared for the worst if it happens. (though saying that I paid well over the odd's for my Mantra but in my eyes it was worth it.... right colours, never ridden, new fork and headset... I was and still am happy anyway :) ).

Cheers.
