klein attitude problem with paint bubbles

speedking

Retro Newbie
Hello!

I bought a second hand 1994 attitude mc2 sea & sky bike and I noticed that the frame has some "paint bubbles" especially at the back of rear brake cable exit.

I have attached a picture of this part.

How could these paint bubbles have been caused?

Does anybody know if it is possible to have a spot repair of this part and if this is a common problem of attitude bikes.

Does this problem lower the value of the bike a lot?

Thanks for your help!

Its a common problem with Kleins. It does lower the value of the bike indeed. I wouldnt buy a Klein with bubbles unless it is a really cheap one.

Spotrepair wont work I think. Its a special colourscheme and you will allways see it.

Just ride it and when you do, look ahead not at the bubbles otherwise you'll fall off.

Ignore martin, it's just a small bit of alloy corrosion. It can be remedied and it can be patched with paint. It will lower the price a little if you sell it as Klein fans are a bit anal about crap like that but if you get it sorted then you've got no problem.

Go to: http://www.kleinspainted.com/--repaint-archive.html
Check out the top bike as this was partially pain and patched. Jon is a top bloke and a classy painter and will be able to help you out.

It's not that I wouldnt buy it because it should be some structural damage or something. It's just because I dont like it (I'm anal about corrosion :D). Dont get me wrong on that one, I just dont like it when it has bubbles.

Cheers,
Martin

Don't worry, I'm the same!

It'll have its own thread soon enough! The frame was a little wrecked where the previous owner had drilled it for V-brakes and had cut the rear noodle off.

Used some medical grade epoxy filler and stainless steel tubing to rebuild the damage and then let Jon loose on it.
