kirk build part numbers anyone

So on an impulse I bought a Kirk revolution frame looks generally in good condition.

I know lots of people think they are rubbish but as someone said to me if its survived this long it is probably one of the good ones. and such an iconic British failure.....

I have an full set of STXRC of mid 90's vintage that I am thinking of building it with.

Unfortunately the crank chain line seems all wrong and looks better for a biopace deore crank. I have.

The problem I have is the front derailleur does anyone know the part number for the original type or how compatible are they with the current range of top pull direct mount derailleurs.

My other option is to go 1 by 8/9/10 (which ever will fit) I live at the top of a hill so need gears.

I’ve got a Kirk and they take a “band on” front mech without the band as they have a special captive bold in the frame and being square -ish nothing round is going to work anyway.

Band on top pull mechs aren’t easy to find and bottom pull is NOT going to work

Take a pic of the frame area around the mech and post it, if you’ve not got the adapter bolted onto the frame you really are brown bread

Re:

I tried a direct mount mech on my old Kirk, it didn't fit. It would have bolted on I think, but fouled on the frame.

Front mechs are tricky to find, the mounting adapter nearly impossible.
If you don't have the adapter/bracket you could probably make something that'd work, or have it made, I'm sure someone could take photos and measurements of it.

For the chainset you probably just need a different bottom bracket with a different length axle. I have a similar issue with my current Kirk in that the bottom bracket axle is too short for the chainset so the front mech fouls on the frame before it'll drop the chain onto the granny ring  maybe I'll get around to fitting the right length bottom bracket some day

This is the front mech on my current Kirk...

Re:

Thanks I have the bracket and will be able to make something that fits when I get a chance. I have thrown it together with random parts as the yellow cable arrived quite pleased with the look. Looking forward to first ride after work

They sold plenty, unfortunately plenty cracked, snapped, or the bonded in bits unbonded themselves  it took them a while to sort out the manufacturing process and quality control, by which time it was really too late.

The website no longer exists, but thanks to the magic of "Wayback Machine" we can view the site as it was..... :D

Happy reading!
