Jim Docherty 531 A.T.B bike frame

Quality first post. I'm quite sure he knows how to knock up a road bike, as do countless amateur Freds-in-their-sheds, but this is a mountain bike forum and from what I remember of this bike it was an unholy mess of a mountain bike. One for the 'must try better' pile.

Do you know him? It would be nice if he could shed some light on that bike.

I remember this one and almost had a punt. I emailed the seller at the time asking about the head angle. The seller said that they spec'd the slack angle themselves as they wanted to use the bike for fully loaded touring and wanted something very stable on the front end. I thought it looked very tidy, head angle aside.

The frame was built to compensate for someone's disabilities. Having only one hand and two fingers missing on the other hand made the 68 degree head angle a necessity. Also had a ten inch bb height, with a 75 degree seat angle, which funnily nobody noticed from the photograph. A custom frame builder builds to the customers needs and specifications.

What would be really good is if we can have this thread automatically bought to the top every few months thus saving random newbies the trouble of registering just so they can post once in this thread before vanishing forever more.

..and the bike is still a dogs dinner.
