Isn't Shimano M900 .......

XT for me all the way

Great scores in all departments: Style, performace, durability, weight, serviceability, value, colour

Even looks good when it's had some serious stick apart from the more modern stuff, it was a real shame when they started printing stuff on the cranks, but then strip and polish!

XT's getting pricier all the time now though as people cotton on to the attraction

XTR just always has that greyness about it and I find myself into '80s early '90s bikes anyway

- It does appear that the paint on the mechs has been varied over time

I might get my anorak out, find the dates then post photographs of some of my battered old XT. I think I have four or so rears and a good few fronts

If memory serves mine vary from bluish mega dark grey through mega dark grey to black, same for the fronts

I like this shot:

M730 was the finest looking groupset, in my opinion, but this is certainly the last decent (retro) Shimano groupset made.....

The only thing I'd add would be thumbies.
That chainset is a work of art. They even off set the logo so it would wear off. Now they put it right where it will wear quickest, so you buy another one

id like to know why the seatposts were very limited in size...id love a 31.6 for my sannie but they just dont exist..
