The one thing I always disliked about 735 XT is that the rear and front derailleurs have different colour paint.

I've never seen a matching pair, even when I bought mine back in 92ish, they don't even match in that picture above. I'm guessing the black is older and the grey came along when xtr was released.

I am looking at the mechs on my GT and they appear to be the same finish (M735), however, the ancient f.mech on the other bike is very black (M730)

In the same lighting and at the same angle they are the same gunmetal grey / blueish tinge colour

I don't believe you, so just send me up that rear so I can see if it is a match to my front, you won't believe how much darker it appears when you get it back though.

venhill polished ti bolt as well...tha campag rear mech was the best looking but that xt stuff is nice....
