Just built a new modern bike up and swerved electronic shifting after hearing there's a slight delay between pressing the button and the gear changing (Sram AXS). I think that would annoy me and have never struggled setting up cable gears so couldn't see the point in spending so much more. Being a luddite I obviously went with Shimano XT.

The delay is no more a delay than using cables in my experience and best of all, it shifts to the exact spot every single time rather than cabled units that after a while start to wander out of alignment.

Takes a cable years to wander and its the housing that compressed not the cable that stretches.
I’ll take 90’s bike parts any day. My wife has a new carbon mtn bike and its ugly if that matters.

Purple looked great in 94, by 2000 it looked rubbish, kids bikes only, then in around 2020 it was back, looking cool.
Once the Wannabes have their bikes festooned with purple again, blue will look class.

Anodised purple has NEVER gone out of fashion in my house. The blue is lovely also though.

In my quest to thin down the fleet, I'm about to build up a 50's Bates frame and then back to back it with a modern (for me) Lynskey to choose what to sell next. At the moment I have no leanings towards the "winner" but hopefully it becomes an easy choice
