I only have 2 that will never be sold. One is a Kona Fire mountain I got for £50.

I'm in the frozen wastelands of Hampshire with a stunning view the dreaming spires of Fawley, where I grew up.

Thank you for the offer, because of lack of space and no shed or garage I'm limited to two bikes (see pic!). Which is probably just as well! It would have to be one in one out. And by the simple action of putting new tyres on the Townsend I'll never get my money back and made it unsellable.

Not quite bugger all, but close. Just a clean and paint touch up with some signwriters enamel I had knocking about. The bargain tyres and headset tripled the value! (or not, saw one on FleaBay for £39. It didn't sell) :mrgreen:

Ahem! There is clearly a sliver of space in that photo, right next to the bike under the black cover. Looks like a further bike might just about squeeze in there. And the frame My_Teenage_Self has to offer is, indeed, nice: I have one and it weighs just a smidgeon over 1.5kg. I'm sure I could karma you some bits too.

Recently I've been wondering if this site is right for me. Thanks to two redundancies and cancer I've had to radically change my lifestyle so I'm always going to be at the bottom end of the bike scale.

I'll admit I'm late to the MB party having started in my early 40's when I wanted to get back into cycling. I bought a Dawes XC 2.2 which had hydraulic discs, Rockshock forks, 6061 frame etc. I had some upgrades done and had a lot of fun. It had to go with other things in the end due to illness and circumstances. But do you know what? I'm now having as much fun with my two £10 bikes if not more because I'm not so worried about leaving them anywhere and I can actually work on them.

The thing is this site, great as it is, seems more geared to the high end stuff. I'm wondering if I should quietly withdraw and look for another site more geared to "my type" of bike, if such a thing exists.

Don't worry about what bike you have and just enjoy it for what it is and good luck with the recuperation.

As for the willy wavers with the slick tyred Kleins from what i see most of them dont actually ride their expensive bikes let alone ride a bike

Oooh you people are a bad influence. I'll admit I am tempted, but the Townsend (or Lemon Turd as it's known) is actually not a bad bike. Shimano Altus C10 group set, Exage hubs, Post Modern seat post(?!), Reynolds 501 All terrain frame. It's basically a rebadged Claude Butler and one owner too.
I did ponder swapping the running gear over to My teenage selfs frame. But would it do it justice? And, call me a sentimental old softie, it seems a shame to break up a bike that has survived this long.
I am fine by the way, the cancer (Non Hodgekins Lymphoma) was caught early and treatment was a total sucess. So all good.
