Intro and 1993 Diamondback Apex

Hello,

New to this forum with a new to me bike. I picked this up a couple of days ago for very little money. I have been looking for something like this after a bikepacking trip where i struggled to hang camping gear on my modern cyclocross bike while my friend on an older bridgestone mtb had a jolly time.

I am not actually sure of the vintage, but from the limited information i was able to find, this looks to be like a 93, and as far as i can tell it is all original aside from the handlebars and saddle. I think even the tires are originals i think!

Re:

WOW!

That's clean, looks as though someone bought that for a weekend ride and never rode that again.

Nice score, always like certain Diamondback bikes.

Re:

Changed out the bars and installed a cargo rack, I think this will be a reliable bikepacker. I just need to get a regular seat :)

While changing the handlebars I noticed that even the grips have the DB branding! Kinda fun.

Re:

I actually liked the Cruiser bars, but that "BIG'OL Cracker" seat got to go! :p

You might wanna to check that Bottom Bracket, every single 15+ year old MINT Steel bike I ever bought had a ton of rust in that area after removing it, though the rest of the bike was Like-New!

I'm building something very similar for my mom. Can you tell me the diameter of your seatpost? I switched mine out in my negligent college days and fear it is the wrong size.

Cheers!
