Instagram - Who to follow?

My take from that would be that more people ought to be uploading retro inspired MTB content to YT. The more the better I say.

I'd say, more insight and facts, less opinion and poorly edited content.

Some "facts" are also only "opinions". And, why dont you start your own youtube channel to see and realize how much work a "good editing" and content is.

I have a pretty professional woodworking shop and a highly equipped bike workshop by now and literally everybody I know just doesnt understand why I dont start my own channel at YT.

The answer ist easy: I do not want to spend 4 hours in the shop, filming - and then another 8 hours cutting and editing on my computer. And another 3 hours managing social media, comments, inquiries or stupid questions that come with it! Neither I want to hire and pay other people for editing work etc. My shop is for getaway, for hobby-work and relaxation.

What I want to say is: We all should reduce our demands! Not everybody is willing or capable of doing fancy high gloss videos. That has become a general problem at YT. The "standards" of videos and their appearance and editing have become SO high - even for the small man! ...Its insane!

As long as its interesting and the content helps me - I dont care at all if its a professional or a crappy home-video by someone.

There are PLENTY superbly edited videos, pretending to be the new HBO show. With fancy logos, colors, starting music, etc. - and still have the most stupid host telling you some random BS of the bike world.

I watch enough YT to know what's involved, and I don't have one for exactly this reason!

However, a bit like BOTM, putting the effort in goes a long way. The cream usually rises to the top, and those are the few bike channels I watch: I can usually trust what the presenter is talking about. We can't all be Paul Brodie, but his channel is a brilliant benchmark.

100% this! My wife is a content producer and sh*t content is sh*t content, no matter how well it is shot/edited. Good videos take a huge amount of planning and scripting otherwise you have a nightmare during filming and even more of a nightmare editing.
