This has been a little fantasy of mine. but i have been dreaming of doing some traveling and what better way to meet cool people and fund the trip than to bring a suitcase full of bike parts and sell/trade them for money/a bed/ a meal etc...

if this was to ever happen. what U.S.A. or maybe even Canadian specific parts that are hard for you Europeans to get that i should acquire and distribute maximizing my space of course ie: no frames/wheels.

well have at it and maybe we can make this happen!! what should i start collecting?

but also make sure you factor in the exchange rate, given that the pound is stronger than the dollar, you would have to get stuff quite cheap to break even in some cases,i think its hovering around the $1.53 for £1 mark?

nah, thats if you wanted to buy stuff in Brittan and then bring it to the usa

the other way makes it more valuable, cause our money is worth less we pay less.

cause if i spend $50 usd on a part and sell it for 35-40 pounds, i just made a ton of extra cash.....

just as long as its more than something like 27 pounds sold itd be a profit :)

pretty sure you would get nailed at customs, you may need to take a bunch of clean but old parts with you, bin them and replace with the new but not in packaging parts to try to get thru customs,
my mate did this with a full bike , he took an old one out and came back with a muddied up new one after binning the old one,

i believe in fixies":1shbtzq2 said:

Yup!! Pack the sucker full of it...........ye'll get through fine if ye just keep avoiding the customs officers gaze..............

You need a large value to volume ratio. ..
Ban franklins ar ethe first thing that comes to mind. Other than that, if you're bringing a stash of Ringlé Mojos or Ti-bolt collars, stop at my place first and we can talk ;)
