there appears to be a large drive in the states right now for older style bikes with modifications for a more urban use. e.g. front and rear racks, bags, mongo bars etc.
as we've seen with things like "fixies", when something is driven from the states, our own brand of hipster will follow, if a bit later (fat bikes being another good example to some extent). So for those of us outside of the USA, be warn, prices are about to go mental, good for those with the stuff to sell (expect to see low end frames and forks going for silly money), bad for those of us at the other end of the spectrum.

my instragram feed is awash with older frames fitted with extra weight in the name of looking cool.

72 degree headtube, 440mm stays to accommodate the 27.5” tyres. And that with modern groupset and a nice comfy wide steerer. Almost perfect!

Portage strap! (I’d never get one of those bikes though: there’s no way to ensure your saddle goes back to the ”rite” “hite” if you feel the need to adjust it ...)

You just can't make this up; once again, as they say, "Nothing new in cycling". Also re-inventing old problems with down-tube gear cable and brake runs, plus the stupid bottle cage just to be muddied up by shit from the front wheel.

Yeah, the MBK, sorry about that

Ha, yes braze ons near the BB: I’ve been tinkering with an 86 Cannondale which has them; were they originally meant for a bottle cage or some kind of crud guard? (Anachronistic mistakes become the guarantee of authenticity)
