currently in talks about getting a jeff jones spaceframe

should know more by the weekend, but have been offered 2 frames and maybe a frame/fork/bars/post/stem/crank deal too.

still more bikes i want too, but i really need to calm down......bought about 8 bikes in the past 4-5months.

jeff mentioned he has a EBB frame and a threaded one, what are folks thoughts on the EBB?

If you think you might ever want to singlespeed it, go EBB - a Jones with a tensioner on would be a dozen kinds of wrongness. And you definitely want the forks and bars, it's all designed to work together.

Think early ebb's creaked a bit and coupled with Ti could be a problem. Though if there was one that was going to be right it'd be this one and afaik jeff jones test all the bikes before they leave. Ask him his opinion, seems a straight up guy. :)

ps I'm not jealous at all, moots/merlin/Jones, but have you been reading my christmas lists?

from what i have read, issues come up when you dont service/grease/check tension on the EBB before a ride.

never rode a bike with one however. are they easy to adjust and get on with?

trying to get clued up before i take the plunge.

id either keep the moots SS and go geared with the jones, or vice versa, trying to work out what would suit what best.

Is the moots equiped with a gear hanger? If so i would go 1x9 on that and plump for the Jones in ss, its what its designed for.

Are the EBBs on Jones' Phil Wood? And are they split shell or pinch bolt

The Ebb on my swift is Phill Wood and is a lovely piece of engineering. No creaks so far but as long as its maintained I am not expecting any problems as the tolerances are so tight.

Oh yeah and definatley the truss forks and probably a full loop bar if it were me buying it

got the offer of 4 spaceframes so far, hoping to secure a uk based one. Anyone got old banknotes they dont want!!!

That;s quite a few unwanted Joneses... :?

both owners dont really want to sell, i think its the thought of money thats making them.

they both dont have an idea what they are worth etc either. so getting a price will be interesting.

jeff has 2 second hand frames in stock, so i have asked what forks etc he has and prices too, to gain some knowledge of what to expect to pay to the others.
