1 Pair of Hypex UcD700HG with HxR mono power amplifiers. £800.00.
I built these a few years back, but I'd really like something a bit smaller.
The amps sound incredible, as much power as you could ever want for a domestic hi-fi, but absolutely crystal clear. If it's on the recording, these amps will just make it louder and very, very loud if you want. Trouser flapping bass, but an incredibly clean top end, if you have a good source and pre amp, good recordings can sound absolutely amazing.

Note that these reviews are for slightly different versions of the Hypex amps, there are several: UCD180 - 180 watts, UCD400 - 400 watts and the UCD700 - 700 watts into 4 ohms. There were also different versions of each of these, ST - Standard and HG - High Grade. My amps use the UCD700HG modules with the optional HxR voltage regulators: https://www.diyclassd.com/product/hpr12/49, basically the top specification amp modules they supplied at the time.
These amp modules are sold by Hypex for DIY enthusiasts and you can find more information about them here: https://www.diyclassd.com/product/ucd700hg-with-hxr/19. Note that Hypex no longer supply the transformers or the linear power supply modules I used for my amps.
They are Class D, switching amps with a linear power supply and each amp is 450mm wide x 315mm deep x 140mm high and weighs about 15kg. They are set-up for balanced input, so you'll need a source or pre-amp with a balanced output.
They will pretty much drive any speaker you want and will output 700 watts into a 4ohm load, or 360 watts into an 8ohm load.
THD is under 0.03% up to about 400 watts and the frequency response is pretty much ruler flat from 20Hz to about 15KHz.
Each amp has a "soft-start" module, to reduce mains inrush current, so no thumps or pops when you switch them on and they won't trigger your mains trip switches either.
