How To Turn Answer Manitou 3 Forks Into Disc Brake Forks.

Jamie. H.

Retro Newbie
Hello There. I want to turn some an swer manitou 3 suspension forks into disc brake compatible forks but they have no tabs on them as of to put mounts or disc brakes too. Is there any bolt on adapter as of to put them on it or can i take apart the lower leg of it on, on where the wheel hook is as i have seen retro forks with some kind of small together two bolt wheel hook that has a disc brake adapter on it which maybe i could put that on my forks too which i have seen mount ones that have been machine made which has the old IS mount i hope that is right which has tabs on them but sideways as of them to use adaptors/mounts on them too. Does anyone know of how i can turn the forks into disc brake forks and hopefully without damaging them too. Also I have given to you the pictures of the mounts of that i have seen on ebay as to which might work for me too. Thank You For Your Help On This Subject Too. 🌞🚴❤️👍

Try this thread:

Mountain Cycle made adapters to install their Pro Stop disc brakes onto the 3,4 and EFC forks.
I have one for the Judy forks.
In 1995 Manitou offered the EFC with a MC Pro Stop dropout. It was ONLY available with the 8.6 frame set.

just wanted to add a picture for the MC pro stop adapters

I do vaguely remember there was a Sachs disc version of the Manitou 4 forks.
and this is the official M4 for the Sachs powerdisc

At earlier years there had been a lot of custom adapters (test from 1997) used for mounting a disc brake.

or stuff used with was more DIY or looked at least like

For mounting this early Hope ATD as shown on this Ad it looks like a water hose clamp from the hardware store was used ;)
