Hope Ti-Glide hubs Mavic Rims no Skewers

Grubby

Dirt Disciple
Had these wheels for nearly 20yrs now, time to let go, just need to know a price.

Rear is a Mavic 117 rim on Ti Glide hub.

Rear has 5 damaged spokes on driveside, looks like something got down between the cassette but wheel is still true and strong.

Re: Hope Ti-Glide hubs Mavic Rims

£60 to £80 maybe more on a good day. Unfortunately these are well known for going ping! All of the ti era models are affected

Thats for the pair, but...... are these the ones you posted the other day? the ones with the ti spokes and ceramic rims?

If the Ti spokes are damaged it is probably going to cost someone more to fix. Have you checked the flanges and inner part for hairline cracks? also pics of the rims, how much wear, and the chips would help lots. If the ceramic coating is chipped that will affect the price as they can hammer pads.

Re:

Yeah theses are the ones I posted the other day.

The front is immaculate all spokes intact and rims are clean.

The Rear has 5 damaged titanium spokes, and 3 replaced spokes (steel), rims are slightly worn but not much, the usual chips on the rim but nothing major see pic.

Hmmm... maybe £60 then. Another issue is running steel bodied cassettes on ti or alloy freewheels. The cassette wants to spin around the freehub causing grooves in the splines. Unfortunately your one does look pretty rough.

the marks dont look like they are on the breaking surface, is any of the ceramiic chipped or pitted?

and when you say slightly worn, any chance of a pic of both rims with a ruler edge over them to see the extent of the wear?

I think i'll chuck them on a bike and have £60 worth of fun riding them to destruction, the front has held up to some heavy abuse already, trials/dirt jumps/drop offs.

Thanks for all your help, much appreciated :D

fair enough.

The front doesnt really take much hammer riding or in any of the things you listed above, unless you get it wrong, thats why there tends to be lots more front wheels about ;)
