Hi,

I have an odd set of front and rear hope disc brakes, the front caliper says mono mini 974, the rear caliper says mono mini 03-04.
I would like to get a matching set by buying either 1 front caliper to match the rear or 1 rear caliper to match the front and match up the levers but have a few questions:-

What are the age of each calipers/levers?
Which caliper is better?
Which lever is better?

Anything else I should know?
The other alternative I guess is to sell both and buy a matching pair of something else?

Thanks.

Re:

Basically the black 1 is a 04 mono mini and the silver is a 07 mono mini. The silver Caliper is a post mount so you need a “mount” that will suit your required disc size, the black Caliper is an “is” (international standard) mount which will have a number on it which will tell you the rotor size required. The calipers are basically the same bar the mounting method, the silver lever is a newer design so I guess a bit better but not a lot in it really and the hose is braided so a bit less prone to expanding but weighs a bit more so depends what your priorities are really. have a look here for all the info you need.

In my opinion the silver post mount with is - post adapter is a far superior way to mount a caliper. No fannying about with shins to align the caliper to the rotor, just squeeze the lever and nip the bolts up.

Re:

No worries, I mean the lever body looks ok so you could sell the other set and replace the levers and top caps and you will still have change, you can even get carbon levers if you fancy a bit of bling.
