Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re:

Hi I have 4 holdsworths

1982 tandem ( not a Gemini) I'll need to check the frame number

1965 typhoon 30336

What I was told is a holdsworth special build 12491 it has cyclone forks forks fitted (close serial number) early type nerverx pro lugs and unusual long taper spear point fluted stays, frame was fully chromed.

1951 cyclone track frame number 14307 unusually the frame number in on the rear dropout and the forks are numbered on the crown. It was a brush paint job but when I stripped it the decals have left an imprint so are clear to see.
Down tube decals would have been, I think Lloyds ar9 and located closer to the head than the normal central position.
Pics include for this one. The down tube has the paint removed with a blowlamp. There is no decal left just the change in colour of the steel. So i would take that as showing the original location ?

Thanks for the numbers, I'll add these. Interesting place for the frame number on the crown, not see that before. Have you looked on the nkillgariff.com history site for more info/ID?

The Typoon fit for a 1965 date. The Special #12491 would suggest end of 1950, but that could be in accuracies in the prediction or as I track build dates, not sale dates, it could have been sold in 1951.

14307 is interesting though. We have a gap in the numbers in 1951 between ~13600-15000 and were looking out for numbers in this range. Your one falls right in the middle of this gap, any more info on it would be helpfull.

I'll get the tandem frame numbers and the number from the forks of the special in a few days. I know nothing about the cyclone except out came from someones loft, if I remember correctly.. I was quite surprised by the frame number location and that it's the only one so far with the number at that location is quite something...

I am quite familiar with the nkillgariff.com site.some great info there.

My dad was a keen cyclist in the early 50s I was lucky enough to have a restored cyclone de luxe when i was 14.... about '68, this cyclone is probably as near as I'll get to one of those.
Cheers steve

Hi, I got this holdsworth frame a few years back the bloke I bought it off reckoned it was 50’s from the time when CB was merged.

It’s got a CB frame number. Can you help me identify what it is? CB 14173

Yes, that does look like a CB Holdsworth number, estimated at approximatly 1962. but as for any further identification, no, not without photos I'm afraid. no frame number/model listing has survived, which is why we created this thread here;Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

I do have pics but they’re too big to post, I’ll see if I can figure something out
Yes, you just need to fiddle with them to get them to a size that works. try croping them first to cut out any background or shrink them. Paint is a good option to try.

I use the photo and picture resizer app on my phone, one of the preset pixel sizes seems to work every time..
