Help with SID – 63/80mm travel

Errr, this is actually a retrobike question, even though it’s about 2003 SIDs, as they’re on my Kilauea and I claim 97 is retro …

Well, they’re so much longer than the P2s that they make the head angle 69 and I think that’s too low, and I’m sorry if this is painfully obvious, but if you fit the reducer to limit the travel to 63, does that actually reduce the length of the fork?

And is the reducer a little black plastic thing that came with the fork? [i.e., the little black plastic thing that I can’t quite find ATM?]

Changing the travel will change the lenght of the fork. to change from 80-63 you have to strip the forks down and put a snap a plastic shim onto the positive air shaft. If you are going to this be super careful of the o rings in the lower shaft, they are very easy to damage.
