Retro Newbie
hi looking for a help with this bike i recently purchased, the bike is stickered up as a kona, but not sure if it is or not,the frame number is WS7040027,any help would be great, thanks, sorry don`t seem to be able to get the pictures on,managed to get them in my gallery

Hi Mick, I've just put a thread up with the same kind of thing, frame number alone will probably usless, put a picture up and good luck to us both :)

It looks like one of the many mid to late 90's mass produced steel frames from the Far East. Many of them used Ritchey dropouts and were Nickel plated, which gave them a titanium appearance. They also quite commonly used prestige tubing too, which makes a pretty nice frame. The forks appear to be project two's though. Get a close up of the dropouts on the frame.

Pics added to thread for you ;)

Rear wheel looks like its coming off :/

Neil.

hi thanks for the help everyone,i`ve put some slicks on it,and using it for my work bike, nice and fast, makes the 24 mile trip alot more pleasurable than using my old KHS fitted with full mudguards, when i learn how to update my profile will put up some pictures of my bikes, orange prestige, orange p7,trek 8000,raleigh techium, gaint super sierra, kastle, specialized m2,enduro elite, marin riftzone, bear valley,oh and my old postman bike, will have another crack at it this weekend, thanks again

That's no kona. Looks kinda like the decent steel frames many shops were knocking out under their own brand in the mid 90s, Merlin being the biggest
