help with campy 8 speed cassette replacement

I have a 7 campy cassete I want to upgrade to 8 speed , 32 cogg. I know 7 to 8 speed is not an issue as spacing is the same (I've got 8 speed shifter already), but I'm having difficulties finding a 8 speed campy or compatble cassete with biggest coog 32t. I've seen the miche ones, but it seems only go up to 28. I'd appreciate any suggestion... Thanks!

I maybe wrong but Campagnolo 8speed only did a max of a 26T cog ?

Thanks, that's the issue... Do not any compatible brand go up to 32 ? Old Claris ? anyone has any experience ? 42-26 is a little hard to me...

One solution is to put on a Shimano MTB rear mech. However you need to work through the Shimergo info to get shifter compatibility.

Alternatively, swap chainset to get smaller rings. You could immediately go to 39T inner (assuming it's a Campag chainset)

Campagnolo 7 speed cassette hubs are very rare, they have a short freehub body that will only take 7 cogs.

Campagnolo did make cassettes for 8 speed with cogs up to 30 for their ATB range, they do occasionally come up on eBay. Perhaps put a wanted ad in the MTB section.

Thanks, I do not know much about campy, I've always been more fan of Shimano.

I was not aware I can not swap the 7 speed cassette with an 8 speed one. So end of the story, I'll go slower ...

This is the hub and cassette, and the Olmo finishing the restoring process... Group is 91-94, with older cobalto's.

Aha, it looks like you have an 8 speed hub with a 7 speed cassette packed out with an extra spacer, that will make it easier!

You will probably find however that the rear derailleur can only cope with a 26. There were touring and MTB derailleurs back in the day - I have a Campagnolo Icarus on a bike of mine with a 28 sprocket. A short arm Campagnolo MTB derailleur looks very similar to the road ones so can be a good solution for keeping a bike looking right.

I believe you can get way with 28t sprocket so long as you don't cross chain big to big. I am about to try this on my Athena groupset. I made a bigger cassette by taking a Sram 8 speed cassette and substituting campag spacers between the sprockets which worked adequately, but not as good as my Campag cassette.
