Hello everyone! I recently purchased this bike at a auction with the intention of bringing it back to its former glory, I haven’t really had chance to have a look at it properly yet, I’m just wondering if anyone knows anything about it, as when I type into google BSA firebird I can’t find anything about them/ parts for them. thank you

Looks like a gravel bike with internal hub gears

Truth be told, it's a teenage racer- style bike, steel rims 26x1 3/8 (?)and sturmey wide ratio hub.

The kids wanted to look like a racer, but the parents didn't trust those fancy italian- style Dee Ray Lures

The date will be stamped on the hub shell, then you might be able to search up the catalogue entry by year, so you can get the correct riding attire -
which i suspect will be light blue corduroy flares, collar length hair and cream shirt with long lapels.
Plus cuban-heeled slipons in tan leather

Looks like Raleigh were using the BSA name on (littlewoods) catalogue bikes around this time - late 70s

Gas pipe tubing so probably weighs a Ton..

Paint is good though, and the graphic design is spot on.
New alloy wheels are available in 26 1&3/8, sa hub will shine up, could be rebuilt onto alloy rim.
Maybe sneak a brooks saddle on there, and with those flared bars, it will attract more attention than a £2k carbon specialized.

Paint is good though, and the graphic design is spot on.

The paint is peeling in some places but yeah it’s not really that bad, the rear wheel will need replacing as it’s seen better days, so will give the sa hub a good shine up

How high does that front brake cable go before it comes back to earth?
