Help on 1996 Judy SL/DH

Old School MTN BKR

Dirt Disciple
I have a 1996 Judy SL with the DH internals (double compression and rebound damping cartridges), with more or less 80mm of travel.

I really love this fork and don´t want to retire it. The only thing I need to replace is the bushings and I want to know if the Sid/Judy/Pilot bushings found on cycling stores would work on this 1996 fork or they are made for SRAM built Judys only.

RockShox
28mm Sid/Judy/Pilot bushing kit (10mm/20mm) (FK4275)
$19.99

the new bushes will fit. Try and get the ones with the taller lower bush. Removal of old bushes and refitting is tricky without proper tools. Sure some inginuity and a socket set would do the trick.

Why a taller lower bush? Should I ask for the seller about it or there´s a way to identify it?

I know qbp still has them as well. I also think you can still get them from these guys. They bought all of the old stock parts from Rock Shox when SRAM bought them.

Whats "qbp"???

I´ve tried to bought some spares from Jerry Vanderpool (Hippie Tech), but he doesn´t sell parts, he just service the forks. And it´s too expensive to send the fork from Brazil to Idaho.

Thanks for you attention guys!

Look what I´ve found!!!

Bushings: In stock form, Judys have one upper and one lower bushing per leg. HOWEVER, there are several advantages to installing a second set of lower bushings. By increasing the amount of contact area between the upper and lower tubes, wear is decreased considerably and fork rigidity increases. You should expect, however, a longer break-in period during which your fork may be quite sticky, but don?t worry; the wait will be worth it. Use the older steel bushings if possible.

This guy has lots of older forks maintenance tips in his website.
