Hi all, need some ideas!! I am produce manager for a supermarket and my central sales team and distribution have really really cocked up this year and our stores are absolutely flooded with veg. It really depresses me to think it will just go in the bin and I am desperately trying to think outside the box of who we could contact to buy it off us dirt cheap. At the moment I am looking at local stables for carrots, apples, sprouts and parsnips. I also will have an absolute ****-load of potatoes to shift on wednesday but I'm told horses don't eat potatoes! I would think pig farms but there aren't many in kent as far as I know.
Anybody got some lateral thinking ideas of shifting some bulk fruit and veg.
Oh and only the potatoes, carrots and apples would be OK for human food, the sprouts are gone and the parsnips are quickly looking dry and brown and horrible.
It's like an Apprentice episode!!
