Re:
Hi,
I can't unfortunately help you much, but I would also be keen to glean information about your acquisition, as I also have one; I bought mine new in January 2002, and thought it was at least a 2000 model, if not 2001. This article (
http://www.bikebiz.com/news/read/interv ... 3-0/016402) suggests that the same Ridgeback font/graphics were employed in 2001 for the launch of the Genesis Day 01, so maybe 1999 seems a little early?
If anyone could assist, I would be very interested to learn the nature of the Cro-Mo frame; was it a proprietary Ridgeback affair, or unbadged Reynolds/True Temper/Tange?
What I will say is that, rear rack apart (this wasn't supplied with my bike when new), your model seems to be in exactly the same condition as mine was when I picked it up nearly 14 years ago! As far as I can see, all your components are as supplied when new, even the tyres!
I would also note that it is an extremely comfortable bike, and that the Alex wheels seem to be indestructible, as mine are still rotating without issue. I've replaced a fair few bits, and it is now operating as a singlespeed, but the frame, forks, wheels, headset, bars, seatpost, cranks and brakes are still very much in service.
Good luck with the research and enjoy riding what I have found to be a very pleasant bicycle!
cheers,
Paul
