i'd hazzard a guess at a nice Hammer.

Fluffycjicken posted some cataloge links in my thread here

91/92 maybe?

(looks like 91 colours with a 92 DX groupset)

It's a 1991 Hammer, missing its top tube decal. You can tell it's a 91 because of the cable stops on the head tube.

90's rocky mountain

cheers for the help identifying my rocky mountain all. all i need to do now is find a 7speed deore dx rear wheel and strip down the bike and re build it. many thanks casey.

You mean I actually missed a guess my rocky mountain thread, really must stop going for sunday bimbles.

As above 1991 Rocky Mountain Hammer

The Ixxxxxxx serial is consistent with their mass produce steel bikes of the era as well.

taffy how does your serial number compare since they are the same year ?

help needed

can anyone help as i've hit a bit of a rutt restore my 91/92 rocky mountain hammer as i can not find the yellow frame decals anywhere. i've had plenty of luck sourcing all the dx components. also i'm un sure weather to stick with the amp fork setup or revert to the orginal tange forks? what are peoples opions on this??

Gil_m or manitou??? should be able to do them for you.

iirc Gil should have a close proof for similar and a re-type of the model to and a recolour should do it. Not sure how busy either of them are though.

Either fork is good, depends which you prefer to ride.

I've a 91 like yours (with a 92 paintjob in black) i ummed and ahhed over the same question but my choice was made easier by the modern (ish) suspension forks on it being cack so back to (the original by luck) rigid fork it was.

And TBH it's great nimble precise steering and a through joy to ride. more forgiving that a similar vintage Marin Rocky Ridge (suspension for that on it's way!) however the AMP forks are period correct and a good fork as well a tough decision.
