Dudes most of you will be unaware that me and grumpy commuter are colleagues who work at church end brewery deep in unfashionable North Warwickshire. After one evening ‘s product research (ok drinking)we decided to organise, as an antidote to weight weening, a competition to see who has ‘the heaviest regularly used bicycle’.
First up are the rules because we are British and we love them a bit like a good que.

1. No Raleigh activator’s
2. Your bicycle must be ridden regularly – ish.
3. Retro is essential (lots of room for manoeuvre there then!!).
4. Photographic evidence of weight / use please.
5. Not to be taken seriously in any way, shape or form
6. If we end up with several bikes of the same weight then

Spencer and Karl’s decision is final, no matter how much moaning and pissing ensues on internet bicycle forums. We may just run a poll to be fair

The competition will run until midnight January 1st 2012 (plenty of time to shonk something together!!) on both road and MTB sections. Feel free to enter both if you want but please note that if you win the MTB prize it is highly unlikely you will win the road one too ( and vice - versa) There will be prizes, they may be larger than those on the road section!

All weights in pounds and ounces please as we LOVEEEEE imperial measurements

Photos are cool . Our method of weighing was rider first, then rider and steed followed by hard sums to reveal the final weight. There could be a special prize for the best weighing method

Good luck to you all

Spencer and karl

To kick this off here are my entries

First up gt karakoram 91
A quite respectable 29lbs12oz(surprised me)

Next up muddy fox roadrunner88(it is a mountain bike honest guv it’s got chunky tyres & a u brake)
Bit of a biffa at 37lbs1oz

1. Bugger!

As for weighing 'the rider first', I suspect I will have a distinct advantage as I tip the scales at a modest 238lb (17st) even without a bike!!

brew

the only thing that makes north warwickshire unfasionable is you spence.you look a right gimp in them wellies

off to sort my D & G ,and gucci to raise the fashion stakes around here

Oooooo, last time I had access to a forklift to place the Raleigh Alaska I currently ride at least 6 days a week on some scales I believe it came in a bit over 37lbs, but I'll try to find a way to seperate it from the ground again and get photo evidence.

Does it have to be MTBs and road bikes?

Somehow , I think this will be won by a German bike with mudguards, kickstand, fitted lock, adjustable stem and hub dynamo.....

Or a dutch granny bike with the same.

My wife's Batavus is easily 40+ lbs.

Or someone is going to dig out a Long John or Christiania cargo bike.....

whats wrong with north warwickshire spen?.......the rising sun shining through stone henge shines past the black horse pub in atherstone!.......i think.... .....im going to get you a new hat for chrimbo!..... :D

been meaning to weigh my LTS too, this gives me a good enough excuse

I'm expecting close to 40

Curse the use of carbon fibre, titanium and missile grade alloys by the Yorkshire square factory. It will never win... nor will the scouse roadbike (unless I add some of those new fangled Campag concrete components)

Rules.........

1. No Raleigh activator’s!!!!!!!

Gutted, even given a revamp it still causes tremors in Norfolkshire!!!!
