Am I the only one who duct tapes a thick branch to the steerer and calls it a day? I'm tired of all this modernisation, when mine snaps I just snoop round the woods for a new branch - which comes in very handy as I often find some of my many missing teeth during the hunt.

Duct tape? Go with squirrel sinew: it’s worth 5 secs a km at the trail centre ....
I wasn't aware, food for thought. If only I could ride fast enough to take down one of the critters and produce it myself. But it's hard to get the momentum when you don't have pedals.

Stiffness is only in part defined by clamp diameter but also length of centre bulge as this dictates the length of the moment arm for the more flexible 22.2mm section.
