After what feels like ages I had some time to myself to take my Gt Rts1 out for a ride, pumping tires making sure brakes were ok (you get the picture)

Then 10 mins from the house the bloody chain snapped while going uphill.
What followed was a low speed fall (couldn't get out of SPD'S fast enough) then jumping up quick to make sure no one saw (they never) phew!

Now am really done with retrobiking and feel like chucking the towel in!!

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Done with retro biking? I'd put money on it the chain isn't retro, and as for spd pedals :D

Had a similar experience with my Zaskar a few months ago, brakes rubbing and not working correctly, crunchy and slippy gears. As soon as the problems were fixed I soon re-kindled the love  !

No chain wasn't retro, as for the SPD'S it was a slow motion fall, no damage to me or bike though apart from chain

I will donate some pedals and an 8 speed chain karma if you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and MTFU
