Retro Newbie
First post but I've been lurking for a bit and really enjoying the forum.
Two years ago I started a mission to ride all of the bikes I really wanted to but at the time was too skint to purchase. This GT was the bike I started with. When it came out in 98 I was 23 and it just looked like the future, which essentially it kinda was. Having enjoyed it now it's time for me to move on to something else. I've been into MTB about 25 years now and the wish list is long but they all shall be mine!
Hopefully someone else here can take good care of this one and get the same enjoyment I did.
I'll get some images sorted soon and post a link in the thread. Here's the specification for now...
===
- GT STS 1000 DS frame. Good condition. No cracks, no dents, usual scratches. Back end is retrofitted for disc with an adapter purchased in the US. It's solid, never had any issues with it
- Avid BB7 MTN brakes (used these so I didn't have to drill out the guides on the frame). I like them since I have the road version on a Salsa Vaya also
- Fox TALAS forks (will need a service soon, kit to do this is cheap)
- XT 9sp rear mech
- XTR triple front mech
- XT shifters
- Two cranks are included: The older XT ones on it (Octalink) and an XT triple to match the mechs and shifters
- KORE elite stem
- Azonic bars
- Saddle
- Seatpost
- Wheels
- Mountain King Tyres
- Roox headset
* Extra...
- Spare rear disc only swingarm. It looks slick since there are no V mounts on there. I never fitted it and have no idea if it was from an STS or some later model. I got it as a bonus when I bought the frame and it's been sitting in the bubble wrap ever since.
** Bonus Extras (if I can find them, they are around somewhere)...
- Spare set of decals. The originals are well known to be awful. I never used these since it doesn't bother me
- GT STS Manual
- Rockshox Super Deluxe Manual
- Spare set of travel chips (they are plastic and previous owner bought as a precaution, never used)
===
No idea what to charge. Make me an offer once I've added a link to some pictures on the thread here. I'm in Surrey and can post it if needed but would prefer collection.
