I've reached a bit of a memory blocker as to what grips would be appropriate for my '96 / '97' / '98+ builds i'm doing.
For earlier '90's builds it's been quite easy to choose grips as they seem to be more memorable - but I can't for the life of me think what I was holding on to beyond about '94 actually! My last 'full bike' which came with grips would have been a Specialized Stumpjumper - which had it's own Autopilot grips, and many brands had their own - which were often switched out for something better. My '93 KHS had Bontrager branded grips, but I did swap them out for some clear Tomacs at some point.
Any pointers for what would be suitable grips by year?
For me I'd say the list looks like this;
- late 80's = anything foam, think 'Grab-On' and the like
- late 80's into 90's = heavy rubber, such as Tioga
- early 90's = lighter rubber such as ODI Attack, foam grips particularly Ritchey WCS
- slightly later early 90's = Onza Porcipaws and ULES, and TOMAC Tioga? grips
After that I'm stumped!
