Going Straight -deleted repeat thread

My mrs -Jo, has watched the build-up of a '59 Hetchins, with modern Campag/Shimano parts helped by members, and the outcome...well, I'm having an affair with my new-updated touring bike. Thx again folx!

She's hinted that she'd be up for riding again, if the bike had straight bars. She ain't doing Paris-Roubaix, but canal paths with frequent stops more her thang.

The Problem -she don't like drops. Ok -in an atmosphere of being supportive, knowing that the bike I bought her 5 years ago from a mate, a Specialized, as a B'day present has sat in the shed after 1 ride a long time ago....so don't really want to be splashing out too much on an experiment that may/may not work to fire her enthusiasm.

Put some Ride Tour's on it yesterday, all good.

Q? - Compact crankset, 9 gear cassette, all Shimano parts -what secondhand thumbies should I be looking for? (Lx/Deore....)
