P.S. I have the Gates ride on the family calendar at home so hope to attend.

Me too, and considering turning up on the Kirk with its magical and very un-nerving properties of independent rear wheel steering...

I know LGF has a soft spot for Great British innovation on the same level of the Austin Maxi and Princess.

Even if I have to take a crash course in website hosting - Retrobike will be here as long as I am around even if it is just me left, in my shed, dribbling a bit trying to fix a 200GS rear mech.

.....cos I think you like it here really!!.

i left for the most part due to all the arguing about non related bike stuff.a lot of sites i frequent ban the discussion of this sort to avoid bad feelings that bleed into other areas of the group.i suggest you stay and encourage the owner of the site to make it policy for no politics.those that are here solely to spread bad feelings will get bored and move on.otherwise i think the days of retrobike are numbered which would be a great shame.

100% this. These kinds of threads are locked and wiped on virtually every other affinity group forum. Its well known that it kills the community in the end.

I sooo badly need to ride more, feel awful this year.

If enough people want it, I'll be more than happy to ban all politics and religion. I'm pretty sure the other mods would like that too.

Do keep in mind that it will be a HUGE change. It means locking and binning the election threads, anything Brexit-related, anything about any world event (it always turns political anyway, see the thread here in G&OT about the attack on the mosque, it went that way within the first 5 posts) and any other discussion as soon as politics is mentioned.

Think of your bikes shown in here more as a pictorial history book of your life, if you don't care anymore then sell them and try macrame. I suspect however you won't as you do like your bikes too much

Im all for it. Its taken over this site and its driving people away and will increasingly do so. We all appreciate its taken over the nightly news, which is all the more reason to come on here to relax....

:)

Plenty of vitriolic political threads on FB for those who perpetually need to vent spleen.
