Hi there, first posting
Picked up a clean Gary Fisher X-Caliber at the weekend. Bit of a mixed bag in terms of parts and I want to tidy it up, frame is in great condition though.
But the forks are the trouble, they seem to RS Judy but are shot, sitting low and no bounce or action, they are not seized. Am thinking of servicing them, seems to be plenty of tutorials online. If they are fully shot, I will be looking for a new set of forks, my question was whether I have 1 1/8 steerer, am rusty on all this, there is currently an Aheadset on it, I know I can measure but will be a few days before I am back at the bike.
My daily bike has been a Cannondale Killer-V from 94 or 95 which I bought new during a summer in Long Island and brought back to Ireland with me - has had many an adventure! Running Marzocchi Bombers and mostly XT gear throughout.
Will be looking to bring the Gary Fisher up to XT spec with V-brakes, 3x8 gearing etc - really want to get rid of the SRAM grip shift set up on it.
