Retro Newbie
I bought this late last year (from this forum I believe) as a bit of a throwback to the second bike I had ever owned.
The frame and fork came freshly repainted with new decals. I built it up in not much expense spared using mainly new parts. It rides fantastically well, and as a woody singeltrack bike puts a huge grin on your face. It's light (not sure how light but I can weight it if needed), fast and responsive.
Here are the details:
Frame: 1992 steel Kilauea. Size 18.5 Centre to Top. Perfect for me at 5ft 11.
Fork: Kona P2 of similar vintage.
Front Wheel: 1995 Mavic N221 on LX Parallax Hub.
Rear Wheel: 2009 x317 Rim on (old not sure how old) Parallax Hub.
Tyres: Bonty Jones 2.0s
QRs: XT
Headset: FSA Orbit (new 2009)
Bars: Easton Carbon XC (new 200
Stem: Thomson 25.4/100m/5 deg rise (new 200
Seatpost: Tioga 26.8 (new 2009) some scratching on front.(New 2009)
Saddle: SDG Bel-Air Ti (New 2009)
Brakes: Avid SD 7 wth XT cables. (New 2009)
Shifters: LX (New 2007)
Grips: Lizard Skin Lock on (New 2009)
Cassette: XT (new 2009)
Rear Mech: Shadow XT (new 2009)
Front Mech: XT (new 2009)
Chain: SRAM PC69 (new 2009)
Cranks: Polished RF Turbines (2004)
BB: Shimano ST
Rings: StrongLight 22/32/44. Lovely 5 bolt rings. Look new (New 2009)
Pedals: Gusset Flats (new 2009)
I bought it without really having a use for it. And 10 rides in over 12 months reflects that. It really is in superb condition. One small scratch on the fork, and a few tiny ones in the frame.
It's been helicopter taped from the first build. I've just spun it round the block and it's all good and ready to go.
It cost me over £700 to build, and I don't really want to split it but I can see why on this forum that might be the preference. If there is a demand for the Frame/Forks/Headset/BB/etc, I will have a think about a price and post it on this advert.
Otherwise I'm selling it complete - posted or delivered within 50 miles of Hereford - for £450
I can't post links as this is only my second post, but if you get in contact (see below), I'll forward some on.
