Rare opportunity to acquire one of the most desireable Italian steel framesets in excellent condition. The 3v Volumetrica is unusual in that although of lugged construction the main tubes fit over the lugs rather than inside as is the norm, resulting in a clean, neat finish and superior stiffness and weight. Two owners from new, with fully documented history, this Masi was Italian built in 1986 and first sold in USA in 1988, spending most of life in warm dry climate, therefore the frame is in excellent structural and cosmetic condition, with no signs of internal rust and only very minor degradation of chrome on fork crown and chainstay comensurate with age. The previous owner started restoration and had the frame powder coated the present colour, which has been done to a good standard and retains much of the original pantographing and engraving. He also added a second set of bottle cage bosses and had the frame cold-set to 130mm and alignment checked. There are a few very small defects in the paint from storage and subsequent build. The chrome is the original and therefore you must expect blemishes as descibed above and shown in photos, to be expected after 30+ years! A full set of original transfers are included although they are mainly yellow and as such do not especially suit the current cream colour scheme, but the next owner may wish to fully restore the frame to its original pearl white finish shown in photos (or red, the other colour popular with Masi). All threads are good, the BB shell has been chased and faced and the bike has recently been built up mainly for display purposes with modern 10spd Campagnolo as shown in photos, as you can see it is beautifully proportioned and of course rides sublimely!
To be clear, the auction is for frame, fork, Campagnolo Record headset and a NOS Campagnolo seat binder bolt ONLY!
More pictures available here of the bare frameset, also built up and in original unrestored condition:

Note that the photos taken outdoors give the best indication of the colour.
Sizing: Seat post 56cm centre to centre, top tube 56cm centre to centre, 1" threaded steerer, 27.2mm seat post fitting, 130mm rear drop-out spacing.
