Retro Newbie
Hello.
I recently acquired another frame for my collection and would love to restore it with the correct stickers etc..
I have been hunting and the frames and numbers, those that look closest to me are Claud butler but nothing seems to fit the bill exactly IMG_20210829_194509885.jpg IMG-20210829-WA0009.jpeg IMG_20210831_171331621.jpg IMG-20210829-WA0010.jpeg . I could be way off the mark and it could be a Carlton or something else. The frame and fork numbers match 11545.
And help would be much appreciated
Thanks, Stuart

First thoughts are a 1961 Holdsworthy Claud Butler Cordon Bleu. Top of the range, changed those nice seat stay tops the next year (I’ve got a ‘62)
Although the rear hanger is more like a 1959+ Claud European as that had cantilever brakes. Do the forks or stays have canti studs? And show us a close up of the rear drop outs please.

Thank you so much for the reply
Fingers crossed you are right😃
The awful brown paint (currently removing) was leaning me towards a Carlton IMG_20210901_184149415.jpg IMG_20210901_184218066.jpg

Ok so it’s got the correct dropouts and the forks aren’t canti. Maybe the rear hanger was a customer request or maybe a later addition, but everything else says 1960/1961 Cordon Bleu.

Thanks again, happy news.
I post a picture of Bert Halliday. My Club mate and friend has the wheel stand in his garage and a frame jig, although he is not 100% certain the later came out the factory.

The same friend has 2 very special Butlers at home. One of 2 custom made for Bert (2nd crashed) special oversized bottom bracked with his name stamped underside IMG-20210901-WA0010.jpg IMG-20210901-WA0012.jpg IMG-20210901-WA0015.jpg IMG-20210901-WA0015.jpg IMG-20210901-WA0014.jpg IMG-20210901-WA0013.jpg IMG-20210901-WA0008.jpg

That's quite fantastic! I’ve never seen a Claud with those bi-lams before.
Any chance that bell is for sale?
Or even the whole bike?

I have asked about the bell🤔. Richard intends to join the group, he thinks that he may have some other CB treasures that may be of interest.
Could you please direct me to your period paint colours link as i cant seem to find it anymore. Also which fonts/stickers are period correct and did i read that you produce them😉
I am so greatful for all if your help, it really is much appreciated

Excellent, Richard will be more than welcome.
As for paint, I think the link you might be referring to could have been Bob JacksonCycles colour range but unfortunately they have ceased trading. But not to worry as from the mid the 20’s you could pretty much have any colour you want although the finish would most likely be either a solid colour enamel or a “flamboyant” translucent lacquer over chrome or nickel. Italian metallics or pearls weren’t really commonly used till the 60’s I think.
As for decals, yes I do occasionally create the artwork for any “new finds” but then I pass them onto Steve at
https://h-lloyd-cycles.myshopify.com/He has pretty much everything you need although if you start a build thread and tag me by typing @Peachy! when you are ready to order some I’ll happily point out the various “correct” options.
PS me and the other V-CC Claud Butler ME (it’s a shared role) would really appreciate some photos of any Claud memorabilia, tools, accessories etc to add to the V-CC library with your permission of course.
Best regards, Chris
