I'm pretty sure it's a Manitou going by the backwards facing brace.
Disc and v-brake mounts
1"1/8th steerer
Adjuster on left leg (preload?)
Red Adjuster on bottom of right leg (rebound?)
Under the black cap on right leg there's a "plunger" and rather a lot of oil!

Anyone any ideas? I'd quite like to get dome decals for them, and a user manual would be handy too.

I think you're right! :)

Just Googled the "Skareb" and they do look like a match, looking at the 2003 manual it seems I may have the "Comp" version, coil sprung/oil damped, and 80mm travel.

Thanks :D

For manitous, the "comp" doesn't mean "competition", but rather that the preload compression is adjustable, and it's generally applied to the low-end models with *only* adjustable preload.

Thanks Tufty :)

I've gathered that these forks are coil sprung (adjustable preload) and oil damped (also seems to be an Adjuster for rebound damping). And are 80mm travel.
The better models of the Skareb were air sprung and oil damped (SPV, with or without lockout).
From what i've read on Google they seem to be a fairly lightweight fork (a "poor man's SID" as someone said  ) and they seem to be fairly reliable.

The forks are now fitted to my girlfriends bike so they should have an easy life from now on ;)
